Beading allows me to create something and then share it with someone else who also loves it. I've donated items to charitable causes and given my pieces to family and friends. I've also sold my pieces in home shows and museum gift shops. I've also been know to sell my jewelry right off my body -- arms, neck, ears.

I love to make Anglican rosary bracelets from semiprecious beads and sterling silver findings. They are very popular in my circle of friends and acquaintances. I also love to make earrings. They are a quick and easy project that is instant gratification and I can test out bead and color combos without a lot invested in time or supplies.

I keep track of a long list of bead blogs, but they all start at www.artbeadscene.com It's an excellent resource of ideas, tips, trick and inspiration. I also check out the beading magazines.

I am fortunate to have a studio on the college campus where I teach, but not for long -- they are going to tear down the old building. (Yikes)

I go to bead show and shops when I'm near one, but mostly I get my beads from Fire Moutnain Gems.

When I was in junior high, my very crafty/artistice mom made me a little beading loom from three tiny pieces of scrap lumber and two bits of a wooden yardstick. She cut a little slot in the yardstick at every increment. I then strung the loom and used (the jars!)of beads she acquired from another crafty friend. I think I still have some fo those seed beads. The first and I think only thing I ever made was a bracelet for my best friend with her name on it.
