Robert Clibbon

medical mysteries

Classics, 50's-70's oldies......cannot get my ears around Rap......I actually love the sound of surf, any moving water is a song for me

I don't really love to bead, I love the Beads. I
Found handmade bisque beads first, lots of in-laid woods and then african trade beads.....from there the blue of Lapis and the irridescence of mother of pearl just grabbed me when I mix sterling or gold beads into the line up the beads just popped.
Then I found I loved dicroic beads (my spelling is awful I know).......well that says a lot I can get lost when I run my fingers along a really nice strand of pearls, the warmth and life they
present and the possibilities are endless.

CANNOT DECIDE, LOVE THEM ALL WHEN I'M DOING THEM.

Macrame' sometimes less is more

USUALLY THE BEADS OR CORD WILL INSPIRE ME, I can FEEL THAT IT IS RIGHT, COLORS&TEXTURE TALK TO ME.

DON'T EVER DRILL REAL PEARLS UNLESS YOU HAVE A MASK AND OR A WATER BATH, I USE BOTH.

In warm weather I love to sit on the terrrace with my "mess" as my family says, working out doors feels the best and the light is always right.

I have lots of sources, on line and a few local shops. When I'm in the Boston area there are lots of little stores with specialty items, I have some friends that work with glass and pottery and I have bought from them, and I always ask friends to check out stores when they are on vacation. Naturally I buy on line eebeads, artbeads,goodybeads,etc.,etc.,many more out there

Gosh this is a tough one for me since I have been at it so long but I do remember buying beads in "Harvard Sq., Cambridge Ma." I wish I remembered the name of the store but I bought some African trade beads they were blue and yellow and I strung them onto cord, long before I could Macrame' and I wore them all the time! Another thing I just remembered was when I was even younger, before I could go to Harvard Sq. I made beads from macaroni! I remember we added food color to them and strung the chili macks onto kitchen twine! Now that's a blast from the past! The "beads" didn't hold up to well but it was great fun anyway.....

Hi Janice,

Funny u should say that but the same thing happened to me. I closed it down straight away, I reckon it is a kind of scam!! I think others should be altered, people will do anything now that there is a recession.

Being reading your page so glad to know there are people who are passionate about beading. By the way I am British, in case you are wandering. Hope to hear from you soon but with more postive stuff.

Have a lovely day.

We are spending Thanksgiving week in Mashpee. I try to get over to Joanne Allard's place in the woods, The Bead Tree. I don't get much but I like to talk to her and sometimes she has some nice kits.

The Chinese Crown Knot sounds intreguing. I too have trouble with "names" for things. The chain maille patterns are like that a lot.

Bev

Hi Bev, I had never known "the Correct"  Name for the art, I do macrame' and have done the chinese Crown knot it sounds similar, I now realize that the crown knot must be  one in the group of "Kumihomo" I had thought it was a macrame' knot, you are right it is addictive........I actually live in Sandwich exit #3,  about an hour 10min (off season) to Boston, I usually head West up the Mass pike to see the Grands! their wrists are full of Jewelry, macrame  and the everpresent Friendship Bracelet!    Thank you for sharing.  I would like to add you to my friends list if you don't mind?  I'll send you the formal request, this is fun......got to run have one more item to finish tonight.

Janice, Magnetlady28 aka Bev here. Kumihimo is Japanese braiding. Ever do friendship bracelets? Very similar. The "real" way is to do it on a maurdai. I do it on a foam disk. You can use just plain fiber cords or add seed beads. I have some examples on my blog and web site if you want to look. I think you would like it. However, be aware it can be addicting.

If you want more information, just ask.

I forgot to mention I'm in Easton MA. Where are you on Cape Cod? Also, I started making my birth year really old when I realized it would be published. I really don't care, I guess it is just the idea. Bev
