love seeing my creations. Relaxes me, even when I'm trying to learn something new. Its also my escape, to totally concentrate on something that brings pleasure in a sometimes not so pleasant world. No Boundries!

I'm of Cherokee descent, and for several years I was a traditional dancer. I always admired everyones beadwork. Well, we have a conteat once a year at Powwow, and my name is Little Turtle, I had picked up a book obout the Thirteen Clan Mothers and the story really revolves around the Turtle. Which has thirteen segments on its shell. I decide that because of my name, and the strong feelings I had about what I had read, I wanted to do a turtle for my shawl. I drew it out on graph paper, chose my colors for all the depictions for it, and shopped for the beads. I had never even strung beads before. But one of the women told me how to do the loom. I had one of the small ones she gave me and gave it a start. My design would never fit. So, I designed and built an adjustable loom. I loved doing it, it came very naturally to me. I then beaded a strip for edging using the design on my ring, in my 'colors' red, black and off white. I'm very proud to say I won first place. Needless to say I was hooked.
