Hi Helen, I hope you do well in your bead show in November.  My sister and I are doinga bazaar here in Edgewood in November.  We have done it twice and do pretty well for around here.  Edgewood has about 1500 people so it is real small.  The historical society here has the bazaar every year and they send invitations to several hundred people as well as advertising in several papers.  It is their big money raiser for the year.  I am a member and used to work a booth in  the bazaar but now I rent a space for my own booth.  The historical society here has 2 blocks of restored buildings downtown.  They give school tours to children from towns all around.  The money they raise is for the upkeep of the historical park.  They have restored a cafe, barber shop, church, schoolhouse, gas station, depot, blacksmith shop, printing press and shop, 2 or 3 log cabins, and various other buildings.  It is a really good attraction for such a small town and brings a lot of visitors here.  They demonstrate how to make soap, weaving, blacksmithing etc.  We are also doing a fall bazaar in Canton at the First Baptist Church.  This is their first effort, so we will see how it goes.  I need to work on getting ready but I can't seem to get in the mood.  By the way, I am 53 for a few more days, and my sister is 67.  We are half sisters but are very close.  I had 4 sisters and 3 brothers.  I am down to 2 sisters and 2 brothers.  I am the baby.  My Mother liked 3 days being 42 and my Daddy was 56 when I was born. I have a brother who also lives in Edgewood along with my sister.  My oldest brother and sister live less than an hour away.  My Mother passed away in 2005.  She was 91.  My Daddy died when I was 6.  My sisrter also lost her husband in 2005, 4 months after my Mother.  My Mother lived with Nadene (my sister), so she lost both. She has 2 dogs, and I don't know what she would do without them. I know I am rambling on but I want to tell you about one of my best friends.  Her name is Yvette and we have been friends for almost 30 years.  Her husband is the same age as my husband, 58.  He lost his job a few months ago.  He got called back to work and had to pass a physical of lifting 60 pounds with his legs.  He couldn't do it so he didn't get his job back.  Yvette works for the State of Texas in the food stamp program.  Dennis (her husband) has been having back pains lately with the pain running down his leg.  He went last week to the doctor to have blood work done.  Yvette was going to add him on her insurance.  The doctor called and said his blood work came back bad.  They had Dennis come back the next day to do more blood work and did 2 catscans.  They called Friday night and said he had cancer.  He went to an oncologist yesterday.  He has bone cancer, in his hip and possibly spine.  He has a spot on one lung. He will have a MRI tommorrow.  He has smoked for years, so he was worried about lung cancer.  He is very anemicand in a lot of pain.  They have already prescribed morphine for night and hydrocodone during the day so he can function.  I have been so upset I don't want to do anything. Yvette's mother had cancer in her spine and upper neck.  She had to wear a halo toward the end of her life, and really suffered.  I just hate for Dennis and her to have to go through this.  The doctors will tell him next week wht the treatment will be, I guess chemo or radiation.  I am sorry to unlod all of this on you so if you don't want to write back I will understand.  Your Friend, Karen (Fireball was my grade school nickname)

Hello Bellemia,

I would love to add you as a friend.  Sorry I did not reply sooner, but I haven't been on the computer in a couple of days.  I live in a small town about 55 miles east of Dallas.   I have 2 grown children, age 19 and 30, both boys.  The older son lives in Dallas, and is a fireman and paramedic in Mesquite, a suburb of Dallas. My younger son is at home and commuting to a college about 20 miles from here.  My husband manages a rural water supply corporation and I work in a bank.  Please tell me a little about yourself and family.  I also like to read, do puzzles, play games and of course bead.  I have never been to New York or any northern state.  We do not travel too far from home, and usually stay in Texas.  My husband has lived in Edgewood all of his life.  I used to live in west Texas, but now am in east Texas. My sister and I spent a lot of today moving our jewelry to a town about 30 miles from here to an antique mall.  We have rented their glass display case for our jewelry.  We both sold several items while we were trying to get it displayed, so we are optimistic that this will be a good place to be.  We just left a store we had been at since April and had not sold much while there.  We also were missing about $250.00 worth of jewelry after we got home and inventoried our stuff.  My sister is a widow and depends on this to give her a little extra money, so it makes me mad that people take advantage of her and me too.  I guess I will get off my soapbox. Have a nice holiday weekend.    Fireball
